Late comeback not enough as Wave falls to Saints in CCAC action
WHITING, Ind. – Despite being down by as many as 29 points, the Calumet College of St. Joseph men's basketball team wasn't willing to lay down and accept defeat on Saturday, Jan. 4 when the Fighting Saints of the University of St. Francis (Ill.) came to town. With less than a minute on the clock, Dylan Hill (FR/Chicago, Ill. ) hit a three-pointer to pull the Wave to within six as the intensity increased on the court. The comeback fell short, however, as the Saints pulled away for an 81-71 win to redeem an earlier loss to the Wave.
Keenan Bellaphant (JR/Little Canada, Minn.) led Calumet with 17 points, in just his first game for the crimson and grey, including an impressive 10-of-12 from the charity stripe. Germaine Roebuck (SR/Champaign, Ill. ) added 16 points, while CoreVon Lott (SO/Gary, Ind.) finished with 13. Bellaphant and Roebuck each pulled in eight rebounds and accounted for four steals each.
