Nino Barbosa, Sprint Football

In the week of Monday, September 30, Calumet College of St. Joseph Sprint Football quarterback Nino Barbosa was recognized as the Crimson Wave Athlete of the Week.

Barbosa lead the team to a 33-6 win over Quincy University on Saturday, September 28. In Week 3 of the season, Barbosa went 3-of-9 for 96 yards passing and a touchdown. His longest completion was a 62-yard connection with Steve Salman early in the 2nd half. On the ground, Barbosa had 14 rush attempts for 143 yards and three touchdowns. His longest rush of 62 yards came late in the second quarter that helped set up his second touchdown of the game. Coming off a sophomore season where he ran for six touchdowns and threw for five touchdowns total, through two games so far in his junior year, Barbosa has already thrown two touchdowns and rushed for three.
