Crimson Wave Set To Host NAIA Invitational This Weekend
HIGHLAND, Ind. – The big weekend is here. Calumet College of St. Joseph is set to host the NAIA Invitational Championship this Friday through Sunday at Plaza Lanes in Highland, Ind.
Arriving in the region today will be a total of forty teams, 20 men and 20 women squads, looking to vie for the for the chance to be called the best team in the NAIA. The tournament will feature a qualifying round on Friday afternoon, as the participants will play 24 Baker games to see who will move onto the bracket rounds. Friday will also feature a recognition banquet at Dynasty Banquet Hall in Hammond, Ind. after qualifying ends. Match play will start on Saturday morning, and will also be played on Sunday, with teams facing off in best three out of five matches.
The Crimson Wave men's squad comes into the tournament ranked number one in the nation, as well as already having locked down a spot at the USCB Intercollegiate Championships in mid-April. The men will be looking for their fifth victory of the season, having already won the USBC section titles, as well as three other tournaments throughout the season. For the Lady Wave, it will be their last hurrah of the season, and will look to go out on a high note after failing to qualify for the national tournament. The women will be looking to claim their first top spot of the year, having come close once already with a second place finish at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational in December.
Best of luck to both the men's and women's squad, who hope to come away with bragging rights on their home turf. A full recap of each day's action will be available after play has concluded.
