Team Stats
Palos Heights, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph baseball team split a doubleheader with Trinity Christian on Saturday afternoon to earn its second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win of the season. After a shutout victory in game one, the Crimson Wave fell in game two after surrendering 15 hits.
Game 1: CCSJ 4, Trinity Christian 0
In Game 1, CCSJ (5-14, 2-8 CCAC) was able to capitalize early off the Trolls mistakes. After walking three consecutive batters, the Crimson Wave were able to score three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Michael Maanum was the first to make his way to home plate, followed by Frankie Muraida who stole home.
A Mason Dunlop single would bring the final run in and CCSJ had an early 3-0 lead.
In the third inning, a double from Tyler Brody brought one more run home, which would turn out to be the final run scored of the game.
Alternating through four pitchers, Trinity Christian still managed to strike out six batters. As for the Crimson Wave, William Lepretre pitched all seven innings, struck out one and allowed three hits. En route to picking up his second win of the season at the mound, Lepretre threw 83 pitches, 53 being strikes.
In the game one win, Brody had a double with an RBI and both Dunlop and Nino Barbosa had one RBI each.
Game 2: Trinity Christian 14, CCSJ 1
In Game 2, Trinity Christian (9-13, 5-13 CCAC) had five different innings where they scored at least two runs.
The Crimson Wave were outhit 15 to eight and shuffled through five different pitches in attempt to slow down the Trolls.
For the game, Blaze Cano and Michael Perry had two hits each while Mark Bolz, Mark Calmbacher, Jacob Gunn and Barbosa had one hit a piece.
