Men’s Basketball earns first win of the season against Trinity Christian
Whiting, IN - After a tough weekday 71-66 loss against St. Francis, the Calumet College Men's Basketball team got their first win of the season in an 83-69 victory over Trinity Christian.
How it Happened
The Crimson Wave scored the game's first basket with a 3-point shot from Shamond Garrett, and the Wave kept the lead throughout the rest of the game. CCSJ was on a 12-0 run until the Trolls got on the scoreboard. At the half, the Crimson Wave led the Trolls 42-31 and were 15-37 in Field Goals and 8-9 at the Free Throw line.
In the 2nd half, it took the Crimson Wave 4 minutes to add to the scoreboard and get back into a groove. The Trolls cut down CCSJ's lead to 8 points till the final 5 minutes of the game as the Wave pulled further ahead to finish with a 14-point lead and win their first CCAC game of the season 83-69. The Crimson Wave improved to 15-31 in Field Goals and 8-9 at the Free Throw line in the 2nd half.
Garrett led the Wave in scoring with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and was 10-11 from the Free Throw line. Reggie Loury had 12 points, going 2-4 in 3-pointers, with 7 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 assist. David Nelson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, along with 3 steals.
