Olivet Nazarene pull off comeback against Crimson Wave Wednesday
CCSJ men’s basketball team couldn’t hold off the late surge by Olivet Nazarene in the second half of the 80-76 loss Wednesday evening at the McHie Arena.
Bourbonnais, IL – CCSJ men's basketball team couldn't hold off the late surge by Olivet Nazarene in the second half of the 80-76 loss Wednesday evening at the McHie Arena. This is the fifth game this season that the Wave have played in that have been decided by five points or less.
How it Happened
The Crimson Wave (4-12, 2-7 CCAC) jumped out to an early 15-9 lead before Olivet Nazarene (13-3, 7-1) responded to tie the game at 17.
CCSJ was able to outscore the Tigers 17 to nine over the next six minutes of play. Throughout that stretch, Reginald Loury scored six straight points.
In the second half, after Quindarius Davis made three straight layups and a Loury 3-pointer, Calumet College would have its largest lead of 11 with 12:58 remaining.
Over the next eight minutes of play, Olivet Nazarene put together a 17 to six run to tie the game with a little less than six minutes to go.
CCSJ was able to hang in with the Tigers momentarily before a pair of free throws and a fast break dunk from Sam Emich of Olivet Nazarene swung all momentum in their favor.
Olivet Nazarene made three of its four free throws late to hold on to the win.
Calumet College finished the game shooting 29-of-64 from the field and 10-for-29 from behind the arc.
Crimson Wave Leaders
Colby Wiggins led all CCSJ players with 20 points, hitting four 3-pointers and shooting 7-of-12 from the field. Floyd Davis had 15 points and eight rebounds while Reginald Loury had 14 points and seven rebounds. Quindarius Davis added 11 points off the bench.
