Crimson Wave knock down season-high 17 3s to beat Saint Xavier

Chicago, IL – The CCSJ men's basketball team drained a season-high 17 3-pointers to beat Collegiate Chicago Athletic Conference opponent Saint Xavier 85-66 on Saturday, February 10 at the Shannon Center.

How it Happened

Coming off nearly a 20-point loss at home, CCSJ was looking to bounce back and keep their top-8 ranking in the CCAC standings.

To start the game, Calumet College was in an early 10-2 deficit that forced them to take their first timeout within the first five minutes. Saint Xavier extended its lead to 11 before the Wave went on a 8-0 run to tie the game at 15.

Both teams would battle back and forth, exchanging the lead eight times for the remainder of the first half.

To begin the second half, Devan Nichols made two 3-pointers and Colby Wiggins made three 3-pointers in the first seven minutes to give CCSJ a double-digit lead.

Calumet College would be too much for Saint Xavier as they extended their lead to 26 and cruised to the win.

The Crimson Wave shot 31-of-61 (51 percent) from the field and 17-for-37 (46 percent) from behind the arc. CCSJ also dished out 22 assists in the win, compared to only 10 for Saint Xavier. Calumet College capitalized off the Cougars turnovers, scoring 25 points off Saint Xavier's 18 turnovers.
