Floyd Davis and Colby Wiggins land on CCAC Honorable Mention team
As the post season awards were announced Wednesday for the 2023-24 men’s basketball season, both senior Floyd Davis and junior Colby Wiggins were placed on the CCAC Honorable Mention All-Conference team.
Chicago, IL – Calumet College of St. Joseph had two players, Floyd Davis and Colby Wiggins, named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Honorable Mention All-Conference team, the conference announced Wednesday.
In his two seasons with CCSJ, Floyd Davis has been an honorable mention each year. From his junior year to senior year, Davis averages of points and assists per game went up, as well as his 3-point and free throw percentage.
The senior from Riverdale, Georgia averaged 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, four assists and two steals in his 26 games played. Davis had 12 games this season where he scored more than 12 points. He also had two double-doubles this year, including a 23-point, 13-rebound outing against Trinity Christian on February 14. His ability to affect the game in multiple ways on both the offensive and defensive end, will certainly be missed at CCSJ.
The Flint, Michigan native Colby Wiggins was one of the best shooters in the CCAC his first year with the Crimson Wave, averaging 10.1 points on 45.4 percent from the field and 40.7 from behind the arc, in 27 games played. Wiggins went seven games this season where he swished at least three 3-pointers, including his season-high six 3-pointers made against Saint Xavier on February 10. He finished that game with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
Wiggins ability to shoot the ball will be vital to the Crimson Wave next season as he was the only player this year to shoot above 40 percent from 3-point range.
