Wiggins and Slawinski earn all-CCAC recognition
As the post season awards were announced Monday for the 2024-25 men's basketball season, both seniors Colby Wiggins and J.Caleb Slawinski were placed on the CCAC All-Conference Second-Team.
Chicago, IL – After helping led the Calumet College of St. Joseph men's basketball team back to postseason play, seniors Colby Wiggins and J.Caleb Slawinski were recognized as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) announced its postseason men's basketball awards Monday.
Both Wiggins and Slawinski were named to the all-conference second-team.
The Flint, Michigan native Wiggins was one of the best scorers in the CCAC his second year with the Crimson Wave, averaging 13.2 points on 39.7 percent from the field and 32.2 from behind the arc, in 28 games played. He ranked 21st in scoring in the CCAC and ranked 6th in the conference for made threes per game. He also shot 74.2 percent from the free throw line, the third highest percentage on the team.
Wiggins went 12 games this season where he swished at least three 3-pointers, including his season-high six 3-pointers made against Trinity Christian on January 8. He finished that game with 31 points, which was his season-high, as they took down the Trolls 78-75. A honorable mention selection one year ago, he was named to the second-team this time around.
Slawinski was second to Wiggins in scoring, averaging 12.1 points and led the Wave in rebounding, averaging 8.1 rebounds per contest. The 6'8 forward from Chicago, Illinois shot 48.5 percent from the field and posted six double-doubles this season. He also had six games where he scored at least 20 points, including his season-high 25 points on 11-of-14 shooting against Great Lakes Christian on December 11. One of his best individual performances came against Saint Xavier on February 8 where he recorded a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds.
These two players helped the Crimson Wave qualify for the CCAC Tournament after CCSJ missed out on the postseason the previous six seasons.
