Linnenbrink finishes fifth at Hammer Golden Eagle Invite
Junior Alex Linnenbring bowled an 1152 through five individual games to finish top-5 and earn an All-Tournament Team selection at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite in Rockford, Illinois.
Rockford, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph Men's Bowling team and reigning USBC Intercollegiate Sectional Champions opened its 2024-25 season at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite in Rockford, Illinois.
The two-day tournament at Don Carter Lanes would consist of five individual games on Saturday and 16 baker games on Sunday, along with a bracket style team competition that would determine a tournament champion.
During Day 1, the Crimson Wave bowled its five individual games and junior Alex Linnenbrink would record a top-5 finish. Linnenbrink bowled an 1152 in five games, giving him an average of 230.4 in a field of 267 bowlers.
His top-5 finish earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team, along with Saint Xavier's Edward Burgos, St. Ambrose's Joshua Prowse and Kendric Siders, and Marian University's Tommy Reboletti. This is now Linnenbrink's sixth time earning an All-Tournament Team honor, three of those coming as a Crimson Wave.
Sophomore Mason Doan finished in 15th place with a score of 1095 and junior Connor Pula tied for 32nd place with a score of 1057. Sophomore Nick Musilek finished 36th with a score of 1053 and senior Taylor Haines was tied at 50th with a score of 1013.
On Day 2, CCSJ competed in the 16 baker games to determine their seed in the tournament. The Wave qualified for second overall concluding the baker games, putting up a score of 8889, just 138 out of first place.
In the first round against Purdue, CCSJ would draw with Purdue in game one with a score of 221. The Wave would handle Purdue in game two but came in short in games three and four to lose the best-of-three series.
The Crimson Wave will look to bounce back next week and have a better outing collectively at the Midwest Collegiate beginning Saturday, October 5.
