Hauze and Richardson Earn CCAC Player of the Week Awards
Chicago, IL – Calumet College of St. Joseph senior outside hitter Francis Hauze and sophomore setter Brayden Richardson were named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Volleyball Attack of the Week and Setter of the Week when the awards were announced Tuesday morning. The duo received this award along with Jackson Harvey from Olivet Nazarene, who was named CCAC Defender of the Week.
In a pair of wins that the Crimson Wave earned last week against conference opponents Trinity Christian and St. Ambrose, Hauze recorded a hitting percentage of .534 while averaging 4.9 kills per set. He also averaged 1.8 digs per set and 0.9 blocks per set.
Against Trinity Christian, Hauze put up 13 kills with only one error. He coupled his .667 attack percentage with six digs and two blocks in the three-set victory. He followed up that performance with a standout season-high 26 kills, along with eight digs, four aces and five blocks in the five-set win over St. Ambrose.
Richardson, the one controlling the offensive attack for the Wave, averaged 9.4 assists per set throughout the two wins this past week. He also averaged 1.3 digs per set along with 0.8 blocks per set.
Against Trinity Christian, Richardson had 33 assists, four digs and three blocks. He then recorded his season-high 42 assists, along with six digs and three blocks in the five-set thriller against St. Ambrose.
CCSJ (3-8, 2-1 CCAC) continues conference play with a match against Olivet Nazarene on Tuesday, March 11, beginning at 7 pm. They'll be off for a week and will be back in action again on Wednesday, March 19 against Saint Xavier.
