Women’s Basketball Season Comes to an End

Women’s Basketball Season Comes to an End

On Wednesday, the Crimson Wave Women's Basketball team played their final game of the season at Trinity International. After a long season, with some tough challenges along the way, the team showed a lot of growth over time and grit in tough situations, including their final games of the week.

Calumet College worked hard against a tough TIU team, but with early fouls, the Crimson Wave gave the Trojans some early opportunities to get ahead. Despite being behind, the Crimson Wave pushed forward in the 2nd half, scoring more points than they did in the 1st half and improving their scoring percentages. In the end, the last-minute efforts weren't enough to overcome the Trojans, losing to TIU 89-50.

Shakeana Clark led the Crimson Wave scoring 22 points with 2 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals, and 7 rebounds. Elizabeth Davis followed close behind scoring 13 points with 3 rebounds.

The Crimson Wave Women's Basketball team has 3 Seniors, Shakeana Clark, Elizabeth Davis, and Paris Butler. Coach Parker said about the Seniors, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank my three Seniors: Paris "P" Butler, Shakeana "Flo" Clark, and Elizabeth "Liz" Davis". Thanks for giving me the chance to coach and mentor you in your final collegiate season! In time, these seniors will see how vital it was for our program to finish this season, despite being short-handed, and never forfeiting one game. They showed a lot of toughness and grit, playing hurt and with little rest on numerous occasions. I am proud of their efforts and ability to adapt to adverse circumstances. They will thrive in their future endeavors and I hope that they remain close to the program in the years to come."

Notably, Shakeana Clark reached the 500 Rebounds mark during her final collegiate season and was honored for this accomplishment at the Senior Day game.

Thank you and Congratulations to Seniors Flo, Liz, and Paris!
