Crimson Wave falls to Saint Xavier Monday
The CCSJ women’s basketball team fell at home to CCAC opponent Saint Xavier Monday, January 17 at the Rittenmeyer Center. The loss would mark the third time this season that CCSJ gave up 100 points.
Whiting, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's basketball team struggled in a loss at home to Saint Xavier 105-33. The loss would mark the third time this season that CCSJ gave up 100 points.
How It Happened
Saint Xavier (8-7, 6-2 CCAC) started the game with 15 unanswered points to put the Crimson Wave (1-13, 0-8) in a hole that they could not climb out of.
CCSJ scored its first points of the game at the 6:16 mark in the first quarter as Destiny Hughes swished a 3-pointer. The sluggish start from CCSJ put them in a 32-9 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
Saint Xavier would continue to add to their lead in the second quarter and cruised to the win in the second half as they outscored Calumet College 57 to 14.
Crimson Wave Leaders
Destiny Hughes had eight points and eight rebounds while Hailey Vanderhye had four points and five rebounds. Ariel Esquivel added seven points off the bench.
