Women's Bowling signs Highland's Smolen for upcoming 2023-24 season
Highland, IN - Calumet College Women's Bowling signed Highland High School's Samantha Smolen for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
Smolen, a member of the 2x State Champions and State Runner-Up girl's bowling team at Highland, plans on majoring in Digital and Studio Arts while at CCSJ.
Smolen said "I heard about the school's bowling team from a few people and so I looked more into it and found that I could get an art degree. When I met a few of the girls on the bowling team I felt welcomed immediately. I toured the school and fell in love with the art hall and library. It felt like a nice place to be because it is small and the people are very friendly."
In addition to Smolen's and Highland's state tournament runs, Smolen also received MVP, Most Improved, and 2x All-Conference honors. Smolen was a National Qualifier and the Lake Michigan Cup Team Sectionals Singles Champion.
Smolen looks forward to "bowling with my new teammates as well as making new friends. I also can't wait to see how much more knowledge of art I can achieve" while at CCSJ.
