CCSJ Women's Bowling wins Storm Baker Challenge second consecutive year
The Crimson Wave took down Judson in the championship round to win the 18th Annual Storm Baker Challenge on Sunday, January 12.
Addison, IL – The Calumet College of St. Joseph women's bowling team returned to Addison for the 18th Annual Storm Baker Challenge and came out victorious for the second consecutive year.
The two-day event consisted of qualifying baker games, bowled on both Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12.
At the end of Day 1 on Saturday, CCSJ was leading the field with an overall total of 4401 after competing in six sets of baker games. That was 92 pins ahead of second place Judson with 4309.
After Day 2's four sets of baker games, the Crimson Wave were announced as the 2nd seed heading into bracket play. Judson surpassed CCSJ on the final set of baker games, winning by 51 pins.
As the No. 2 seed in the semifinals of the varsity bracket, the Wave faced No. 3-seeded St. Francis. CCSJ swept St. Francis 3-0 to move on to the championship round against Judson.
In a best of five series where all five games were needed, CCSJ came out on top winning 3-2 over Judson to claim first-place of the Storm Baker Challenge for the second year in a row.
Last season, CCSJ also had a JV team that took first-place honors. This year CCSJ did not have a JV team compete in the challenge.
