Both CCSJ Bowling teams nationally ranked by USBC
Whiting, IN – The United States Bowling Congress (USBC) has listed Calumet College of St. Joseph men's and women's bowling among the top 10 teams in the country during this past week's online team ranking system.
The women's team is currently 10th while the men's team is 9th. The ladies have competed in 10 tournaments thus far and have finished sixth or higher in eight of those events. The women's team have one third place finish, three second place finishes and its lone first place finish at the Storm Baker Challenge in January.
Savanah Rodriguez leads the team and is currently 62nd nationally with an average of 195. She has a total of three top-10 finishes this season. Morgan Schoon, Brooklinn Chavez and Piper Plautz all sit just outside the top-100 nationally, averaging a score around 189.
The men have competed in 10 tournaments and have finished ninth or higher in seven of those events. They have two top-5 finishes and its lone first place finish at the Storm Baker Challenge on Sunday, January 12.
Mason Doan carries the best overall average of anyone on the team at 214.8 and ranks 19th nationally. He has five top-25 finishes this season, two of which were in the top-10. Nick Dudeck is listed as 55th nationally with an average of 209, along with Connor Pula listed at 88th nationally with an average of 206.6.
Both teams now gear up for the USBC Intercollegiate Sectional play, on March 8-9 in Addison, Illinois. Last season, the women's team finished 14th overall and saw four bowlers place in the top-100. The men's team was able to claim the team title at sectionals to advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) National Tournament. They also had seven bowlers place in the top-100 at sectionals, with two finishing in the top-15 amongst of 273 bowlers.
The Wave went on to place ninth at ITC Nationals and hope to have an even better outing this year.
