Lady Wave Blanked by Olivet Nazarene
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – Pouring rain greeted the women soccer team of Calumet College of St. Joseph to start the game Saturday night, and Olivet Nazarene University (7-5-1, 5-1-0 CCAC) kept the theme going throughout the duration. The Tigers would accumulate 17 shots on the evening and cruised to an easy 3-0 victory at East Chicago Central Field.
CCSJ (0-8-1, 0-6-0) managed only one shot during the match, an attempt from Fatima Garcia (SR/Cicero, Ill.) that sailed wide, coming with 16:21 left to go in the first half. ONU would tally two goals in the first half, with Emily Hulliberger scoring at 26:20 and Sarah Buda at 44:28. A majority of the second half was played in the Crimson Wave's end, at the Tigers refused to let up on the offensive side of things. Olivet would add one more goal halfway through the second period when Andrea Rose knocked in her first goal of the season at 73:21.
Jade Newton (FR/Macclesfield, England) got the start in net, and stopped five before leaving due to injury. Jasmine Castillo (SO/Chicago, Ill.) would get the call in relief but faced no shots on goal during her 16 minutes of game action.
The Lady Wave will now have a week to put together their next game plan, still looking for their first win on the season. They'll travel to Trinity International a week from today to take on the Trojans at Noon.
