Wolves Dominate Crimson Wave in Home Finale
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – Calumet College of St. Joseph welcomed Cardinal Stritch University (8-6-1, 6-2-0 CCAC) to East Chicago Central Field on Saturday afternoon, closing out the home portion of the 2017 schedule. Unfortunately for the Crimson Wave, they weren't able to put together a win this season in front of the hometown crowd, as the Wolves put up nine goals in a definitive 9-0 victory.
The Crimson and Gray were only able to muster one shot on the afternoon, coming from Katie Rubright late into the first half. The first goal of the game for CSU was scored by Nicole Hawley less than four minutes into the first frame. It was off to the races after that. Hawley would go onto score two more to complete the hat trick. Not to be outdone Marisol Kroencke had four of her six shots reach the back of the net. Mariah Downs and Mia Bedarf tallied one a piece for Stritch, who now move to 6-2-0 in CCAC action.
Jasmine Castillo and Geena Lucicero split time in goal throughout the afternoon, which each playing a half. Castillo registered two saves, while Lucicero, playing in her last home game as a member of the team, ended up stopping six of the 12 shots she faced.
CCSJ (0-11-1, 0-9-0 CCAC), now only has two games remaining in hopes of scoring their first victory of the season. That first opportunity comes against Trinity Christian College this Tuesday in Palos Heights. Kickoff against the Trolls is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
