Crimson Wave Women’s Soccer Season Ends

Saturday, the Crimson Wave Women's Soccer team traveled to Bourbonnais to play Olivet Nazarene University and were defeated 6-0, completing their 2021-22 season. ONU was a tough opponent for CCSJ, scoring 5 goals in the 1st half despite the Crimson Wave's defensive efforts with only 8 players, keeping ONU offsides and goalkeeper Nova Lopez had 18 saves.

The Crimson Wave Women's Soccer team was 2-14 in regular season and 2-11 in CCAC play, scoring a total of 12 goals on 9 assists and the goalkeepers combined for 142 saves. April Mendoza led the team scoring 4 goals and Nova Lopez had 58 saves. The Crimson Wave also celebrate their lone senior soccer player, Monica Clemente, on her time at CCSJ and with the team and wish her all the best.

Coach Mrak said of the Women's Soccer season, "8 of the 16 players Rostered were Freshman or Sophomores Academically, and were having their first Collegiate Experience of any kind due to a Covid cancelled season in 2019 – 2020.  To say the least, we were a bit wet behind the ears. Also over the course of the season, the Team dealt with Injuries, including 2 season ending injuries as well as a few Family Tragedies which limited the depth of the roster from game to game. On the up side of things, we only graduate 1 player from this year's squad, and will build the Program from here through Conditioning, Training, and Recruiting.  Growing pains are tough but, we'll be better for it in the years to come."
