Lady Wave Bag Third Top Four Finish Of Season
ADDISON, Ill. - Consistency is key in bowling. From which board to line up on, to your approach, to how you throw the ball, the only way to be successful is to find what works and keep doing that same thing over and over again. Consistency has been the common theme in the Calumet College of St. Joseph's women's bowling team this season as well. They proved it yet again, claiming yet another top four finish at the Warhawk Open this past weekend in Illinois.
RESULTS
4th out of 24
TOP BOWLER
Danielle Rudnickas (SR/Highland, Ind.) (8th/199 average)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Individual round play took place on Saturday during the two-day tournament, with the Crimson and Gray women representing the school well. The Lady Wave placed four bowlers in the top 35, led by Danielle Rudnickas who finished eighth with a 199 pin average. Also in the top 35 were last tournaments individual champion Lindsey Norton (JR/Highland, Ind.) (23rd/188.5), Haley Raub (SO/Lowell, Ind.) (28th/185.7), and Paige Chapman (JR/Portage, Ind.) (34th/184.2)
The baker round games followed the singles competition, and while CCSJ didn't blow things out of the water like they did at the Falcon Classic, their pin fall total of 8440 was good enough to earn them the seventh seed in the final event of the weekend, the bracket round. The Wave first took on Robert Morris University (Ill.), handily defeating them in two games (210-170, 182-169). The quarterfinal round was next, but that was as far as they would advance. St. Ambrose University, the eventual tournament winner, would send the Crimson Wave home early by the scores of 164-202, 177-167, and 176-199. Still the performance was good enough for their third top four finish out of four tournaments so far this season.
WHO'S ON DECK?
Next up for the Lady Wave will be back to back tournaments in Las Vegas, Nev. in two weeks. They will first play in the Glenn Carlson Invitational before taking on the competition in the Collegiate Invitational, both important Tier One events.
