Baseball wins St. Francis series with 4-3 11th-inning win

Joliet, IL - Despite the weather changing the date and location of the games, the Calumet College Baseball team came away with their first series win of the season after a 4-3 11-inning win against St. Francis.
Zach Zborowski started on the mound for the Wave, going 5 innings, striking out 3, and giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs.

The Saints were the first to score against the Wave at the top of the 2nd inning on a 2-out throwing error. 

The Crimson Wave quickly retaliated in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs to take the lead. Maurey Garrett, Jr. got the first RBI of the game with a single to right field, scoring Josef Selby from second base. Sean Moore followed with another single through the right side, scoring Nino Barbosa from third base. 

St. Francis took the lead in the top of the 3rd inning off a single to right field and a single through the left side, bringing the Saints' score to 3-2. 

Julian Santoyo went to the mound in relief for the Wave in the 6th inning but ended up totaling 6 innings pitched, striking out 5, giving up 3 hits and 1 walk. 

The Wave were behind for the remainder of the game until the bottom of the 8th inning. Bases were loaded and Moore hit a ground ball fielders choice to the second baseman to score Barbosa from third base to tie the game 3-3. 

Going into extra innings, the Crimson Wave held strong. In the bottom of the 11th inning, the Wave had runners on first and second when a passed ball moved the runners to third and second. Nicholas Anderson went to the plate, and after several foul balls singled to left field to score the winning run from third base. 

Darrius Little led the Wave at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 2 walks, Jacob St. Marie was 2-for-3 with a hit by pitch, Garrett was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Sleby was 2-for-4.

The Crimson Wave will take on Trinity Christian on Tuesday, March 28th for their final game of the series at Palos Heights at 3:30 PM.
