Wave fall to Trojans in five-overtime season finale

WHITING, Ind. – The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's basketball team didn't seem to want the careers of their five seniors to end on Saturday, Feb. 22 in their final game of the 2020 season. Finding themselves down by as much as 15 to Trinity International University (Ill.) half way through the second half, the Wave used a steal by Keenan Bellaphant (JR/Little Canada, Minn.) and a jumper from Chris Seaton (SR/Chicago, Ill.) to tie the game up with under a minute to play and send things into overtime. Then the fun started, as the two teams would go on to play an NAIA Division II record tying five overtimes before the Trojans would come away with a 113-108 win.

CoreVon Lott (SO/Gary, Ind.) pumped in a career-high 39 points to lead the Calumet offense, also pulling in a career-high 14 rebounds. Timothy Mays (FR/Gary, Ind.) finished the night with a season-high 19 points, adding three steals and four assists. Just a sophomore and freshman, respectively, is a good sign for the future of Wave basketball.

Making the most of their final appearance on Alumni Court, Keenan Belleaphant added 17 points, while Samual Pleszak recorded a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds) and dished out a career-high eight assists.
