Men Take CCAC Loss to Trolls

The Crimson Wave men's basketball took a loss to the Trinity Christian College Trolls today in a CCAC conference game played at the Rittenmeyer Athletic Center.

The Crimson Wave started the game strong taking an 11-10 lead on an Ion Falkner (SR/Gary, Ind.) bucket just five minutes into play. The men increased their lead slightly at the 7:53 mark when Daniel Carey (FR/Merrillville, IL) buried a three-point field goal from the wing to bring CCSJ's lead to three 21-18. Carey would score four of the Crimson Wave's next eight points giving the Wave a 29-20 lead with 3:45 left to play in the half.

CCSJ would maintain this lead for the remainder taking a 33-24 advantage into the break. Carey led all first half scorers with 11 points while Na'Shawn Howze added 8 and Falkner and Travis McBride (SR/Chicago, Ill. ) threw in 7 each.

The Crimson Wave started the second half flat giving the lead to the Trolls just over five minutes into play 37-36. CCSJ would take the lead 39-37 less than a minute later when Howze buried a shot from behind the arc. This would be the last lead of the day for the men as the Trolls opened up the game and took the win 74-57.

Carey ended the day with 17 points while McBride tallied 15. Howze contributed 11 points for CCSJ.

The Crimson Wave now 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the CCAC will look to capture their first win of the season when they travel Elgin, IL Monday night for a 7:00 pm CCAC game with the Judson University Eagles.
