Men’s Basketball edged out Tigers in a 55-54 win

Whiting, IN - After three close game losses, the Calumet College Men's Basketball team played a clean and aggressive game against Olivet Nazarene to come out of the night with a 55-54 win.

How it Happened

The Crimson Wave kept the first-half score close, only down by five at the half, as ONU led 32-27. The Wave didn't settle when starting the 2nd half, getting their first lead halfway through and then outsourcing the Tiger 28-22 in the half.

After falling behind, 54-51 with four minutes left, a Tigers turnover gave CCSJ the ball and Shamond Garrett scored to bring the Wave within one point of a tie game. An offensive rebound put up for a shot by Noel Mpie got the Wave the 55-54 lead they needed to take control of the final seconds of the game. CCSJ played a tough defense to hold ONU from scoring in their final possessions and secured their win over the, previously 6-0 in CCAC play, Tigers.

Crimson Wave Leaders

David Nelson led the Wave in scoring with 15 points and 6 rebounds overall. Garrett was close behind with 11 points and 3 rebounds and Mpie with 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
