Men’s Basketball loses final game of 2022 to St. Francis, 80-60

Whiting, IN - In the final game of 2022, the Crimson Wave hosted St. Francis for a midday match-up. The Saints had beaten the Wave 71-66 in their first match-up of the season but CCSJ was coming off a strong win over Olivet Nazarene, so a new Crimson Wave team stepped on the court.

The Wave had a strong start to the game, even leading in the first half 20-15 with 9 minutes left,  but USF snuck by to finish the half with a 38-29 lead over CCSJ. The Crimson Wave battled back in the second half, scoring 31 points, but it wasn't enough as St. Francis had several runs that put the Saints ahead 20 points and defeated CCSJ 80-60.

Oshawn Lee and Noel Mpie were the only Crimson Wave players to score in double digits, Lee with 21 points and Mpie with 10. As the Wave's top scorer of the game, Lee went on a 3-point run, making three out of five in the first half and two out of four in the second half, and was 8 for 18 in total field goals.

Antonio Buckley came off the bench and scored 8 points for the Wave, and Floyd Davis scored 6 points with 7 rebounds.

The Crimson Wave are on break until January 7th as the Wave take on Governors State for their first game of 2023.
