Oakland City hold off Crimson Wave in 85-57 loss

Oakland City, IN. – The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's basketball team lost to Oakland City 85-57 on Tuesday, December 5. The Crimson Wave (2-7, 0-3 CCAC) shot a season low 39 percent from the free throw line in the loss.

How it Happened

CCSJ began the contest with an 8-2 lead, featuring four quick points from both Raina Henrique and Devan Nichols. The Crimson Wave notched their largest lead of the game just four minutes into the contest as Oakland City would quickly regain the lead with a 7-0 run.

After four different lead changes from that point on, Oakland City would end the last six minutes of the first half on a 15-6 run.

The second half would only continue to go in Oakland City's favor as they outscored Calumet College 44 to 25. The Mighty Oaks shot 61 percent from the field in the second half and forced CCSJ to commit seven turnovers.

In total, the Crimson Wave shot 37 percent (23-of-65) from the field and 29 percent (6-for-21) from behind the arc. Calumet College also shot 39 percent (5-of-13) from the free throw line, its worst this season. CCSJ will look to end its six-game losing streak with its next game being its first game at home since November 21.

Crimson Wave Leaders

Floyd Davis led CCSJ with 12 points, while adding eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Hrvoje Majcunic chipped in with eight points and three rebounds off the bench.
