Crimson Wave Men’s Bowling wins team title at USBC Intercollegiate Sectional

Allen Park, MI – The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's bowling team participated in the USBC Intercollegiate Sectional that began on Friday, March 8 and ended Sunday, March 10. The three-day event began with the Crimson Wave competing at the Stardust Bowl in Addison, Illinois in singles play on Friday.

Out of 273 bowlers, CCSJ had seven bowlers place in the top-100, but no one was able to qualify for nationals individually. Patrick Mcletchie finished 12thIan Dobran came in 14thRamiro Garcia finished in 38th place, Nicholas Musilek came in 56thMason Doan finished 60thConnor Pula placed 63rdNick Dudeck came in 74th and Joseph Ocello finished in 85th place.

On Saturday, the team competited in its first set of baker games in the team portion of the sectional. CCSJ posted a score of 6602 in first 32 baker games, placing them in second, less than 200 behind first place Muskingum University. 

In the third block on Sunday, the Crimson Wave were able to pass up Muskingum and take command of first-place. CCSJ posted a score of 3497 in the third block Sunday morning, beating out Muskingum's 3177. The Wave would post 3345 in the fourth block, tallying a team total of 13,444 over 64 baker games.

Against all odds and distractions, CCSJ was able to claim first-place as a team for the first time since 2021.

The Crimson Wave will compete next in the USBC Intercollegiate Nationals, beginning Wednesday, April 17 in Jefferson Town, Kentucky.
