Bailey takes the helm for Men’s and Women’s Cross County, Track, and Field

Crimson Wave Athletics is excited to announce Corey Bailey as the Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Cross Country, Track, and Field programs at Calumet College.

"I am extremely excited to be at CCSJ and make this my new home. Everyone has been so helpful with this process and that's what a family does," Bailey said.

Athletic Director, Andy Marks, said, "Corey is a great addition to our department.  He will be a great leader of our Cross Country and Track and Field programs.  With Corey's background, success, and experience he will take the Crimson Wave to the next level."

Bailey comes to Calumet College with a total of 20 years of Track & Field coaching experience with additional 10 years of Cross Country coaching and 7 years of Football coaching. Bailey has served as the Boys Head Track & Field Coach at Highland High School where they broke a 50-year sectional win drought winning back-to-back IHSAA Sectional titles in 2017 and 2018. Bailey also served as the Head Cross Country Coach at East Chicago High School, coaching the 1st and only Girls XC team to IHSAA Regionals, and as the Track and Field Coach coaching a State Champion High Jumper. In addition, Bailey has coached 2 summer seasons of club track and field for Athletes Live Network - North.

With a wealth of experience, Bailey is ready for the season to begin and already has high expectations of the program. "My first goal is making sure each student-athlete receives a degree CCSJ. I want to have the highest graduation rate in the school. My next goal is to build a respectable program and win the conference championship," Bailey said.

The Crimson Wave Cross Country, Track, and Field programs all have a rich history of individuals succeeding and moving on to Nationals, but the team championships have been a goal for the programs.

Bailey was drawn to CCSJ by "the challenge of building something from the ground up. I had success turning around Highland High School's program and winning sectionals back to back which has not been done in 50 years. I love a challenge."

The Crimson Wave Track and Field team's first competition of the year is February 5th at the Walter Cramer Invite at Olivet Nazarene University.
