Men’s Volleyball defeats Judson; will host first-round playoff match Tuesday

Elgin, IL - The Calumet College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Judson University (RV) for their final regular-season conference match and defeated the Eagles in a thrilling 3-2 match. With the win, the Crimson Wave finished 3rd in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings and will host a first-round playoff match on Tuesday. 

The Crimson Wave and Eagles battled each set, but the Wave came out strong to secure a 1st set victory over the Eagles, 25-21 with 14 kills and 4 errors. The 2nd set was a close Judson win of 25-23 as CCSJ had only 9 kills with 5 errors. The Crimson Wave battled hard to take the 3rd set, and even held the Eagles to under 20 points, as CCSJ won the 3rd set 25-18 with 15 kills and 4 errors. In the 4th set, the Eagles got a quick jump on the Wave and took a lead CCSJ couldn't quite get back as Judson won the set 25-22. In the 5th and final set, the Crimson Wave took a commanding lead and held the Eagles off long enough to secure their 15-12 set win and beat Judson 3-2. 

Francis Hauze had a stellar 25 kills with 3 digs and 3 blocks. Pedro Castillo was not far behind with 23 kills, 5 service aces, 7 digs, and 1 block. Jacob Moen covered a lot of ground in Judson's gymnasium, with 52 assists and 5 digs on the night. 

The Crimson Wave served Judson their 2nd CCAC loss of the season and moved to 9-4 in conference play. The Wave will host Olivet Nazarene in the first round of the CCAC Men's Volleyball tournament on Tuesday, March 29th at 7 PM at The Ritt. in Whiting.
