Crimson Wave Men’s Volleyball sweeps Trinity Christian on Senior Night

Whiting, IN – The Calumet College of St. Joseph men's volleyball team (17-8, 7-2 CCAC) celebrated senior night with a 3-0 sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Trinity Christian on Thursday, April 4 at the Rittenmeyer Center. The win extended the Crimson Wave's streak to five, it's longest of the season.

Prior to the match, senior manager Aaron Csok and senior libero Gustavo Medina were honored. Csok will be graduating this spring with a bachelor's degree in business management and Medina will be graduating with a double major in criminal justice and psychology. 

For the game, CCSJ won set one 29-27 with 18 kills, won set two 25-23 and won set three 25-18 with four errors, the least of either team during the three-set match.

  • Senior libero Gustavo Medina came away with five digs and three assists on senior night
  • Junior outside hitter Francis Hauze recorded a match-high 13 kills, to go along with four aces, four digs, one solo block and three block assists.
  • Freshman outside hitter Daniel Lopez finished the game with nine kills, four digs and three assists.
  • Freshman outside hitter Diego Antunez notched eight kills and four assists.
  • Junior outside hitter Pedro Castillo had a match-high 25 assists, along with seven digs and four kills.
  • Graduate student middle blocker Thomas Garbutt posted five kills, three aces, one assist, one dig, one solo block and three block assists.
  • Sophomore middle blocker Gioele Iacono added one solo block and three block assists.

 The Crimson Wave will host Cornerstone at the Rittenmeyer Center Friday, April 5 at 7 p.m.
