Crimson Wave Women's Volleyball travel to Bluefield State College

The Crimson Wave Women's Volleyball team traveled to Bluefield, West Virginia to play Saturday against NCAA DII-Bluefield State and NAIA-University of Pikeville. The first match was against Bluefield State, and the Crimson Wave came out strong and held their own but lost the match 3-2. The Crimson Wave pushed through to win the first set 26-24, but were edged out to lose the second set 21-25. CCSJ forced a 5th set by winning the third set 25-20, but lost the following sets 25-23 and 17-15. Makayla Watts led the match with 19 kills, Virginia Romero had 20 assists, and Maria Elena Castorena had 22 digs.

In the second match against University of Pikeville, CCSJ was defeated 3-1. The Crimson Wave were right behind Pikeville in the first set, losing 26-24, but came back to win the second set 25-17 and force a fourth set. Pikeville was able to edge out the Crimson Wave in the third and fourth set 25-21 to secure their win. Diana Ortuno led the match with 11 kills, Rebecca Larios had 22 assists, Jade Green had 13 digs, and Breonn Green and Sincere Northern each had 2 blocks. 

The Crimson Wave return to play on Monday to host Roosevelt and again on Tuesday to host IU South Bend at 7 PM.
