Whiting, IN - After two straight CCAC wins during the week, the Calumet College Women's Volleyball team defeated Olivet Nazarene 3-1 Saturday, the first match win over the Tigers in Crimson Wave Women's Volleyball history.
The Wave had a strong week, defeating both Governors State and IU-South Bend, and were looking to continue that streak into the Saturday afternoon match. CCSJ had their highest margin win in set one, 25-18, but still pushed until the end in set two to win 25-23. ONU got just far enough ahead in set three to hold off the Wave and win 25-16. In the Crimson Wave's 10th set of the week, they battled back and forth against the Tigers and held on in the end, forcing ONU errors, to win 25-22.
Naomi Monney led CCSJ with 16 kills, a .233 hitting percentage and 8 digs. Roberta Carlos Da Silva was not far behind with 14 kills, a .167 hitting percentage, 6 kills and 2 blocks.
